Shipping, returns, warranty and policies

Shipping

We ship to addresses in the United States, including APO/FPO and US territories. Every QUBUS is made and assembled in Camarillo, California.

When your order ships

• In-stock grinders and parts: within 7 business days of payment.
• Custom-color builds (and anything marked "made to order"): within 30 days of payment.
• Limited editions: within the time shown on the drop page, or 30 days if none is shown.

If we can't ship by that date, we'll email you before it passes with a new date and the choice to cancel for a full refund. If you cancel, or if we can't ship by the new date, we refund you in full within 7 business days.

Shipping options

• Standard: $10, usually 3–5 business days in transit.
• Expedited: $30, usually 2–3 business days in transit.
• Next day: $60, next business day in transit.

Transit times start when your order ships and are the carrier's estimates, not guarantees. Faster options shorten the time in transit; they don't change the ship times above. You'll get an email with tracking when your order ships.

Address, lost and damaged packages

Please check your address at checkout. If a package comes back because the address was wrong or incomplete, we'll ship it again once you pay the new shipping cost. If your tracking hasn't updated for 7 days, or your package arrives damaged, email us within 14 days of the expected delivery date (with photos for damage). We'll open a claim with the carrier and replace your order or refund you.

Returns & refunds

• 30 days: you can return an unused item in its original condition and packaging within 30 days of delivery.
• Email us first at [email protected] with your order number. Please don't send anything back without contacting us.
• Return shipping is paid by you, unless the item arrived defective, damaged or wrong. Original shipping charges aren't refunded.
• Refunds go back to your original payment method within 7 business days after we receive and inspect the return. Items that come back used, damaged or incomplete (for reasons that aren't our fault) may get a partial refund.
• Final sale: custom-color builds, engraved items and numbered limited editions are made or set aside for you, so they can't be returned unless they arrive defective, damaged or wrong.
• Defective, damaged or wrong items are always fixed, replaced or refunded, and we cover the shipping.

If you have a problem with an order, please contact us before disputing the charge with your bank or PayPal; we'll make it right faster.

Limited lifetime warranty

What's covered. For as long as you own it, we warrant your QUBUS against defects in materials and workmanship that stop it from working normally: the grinding teeth, the magnets and their hold, the basket screen and brace, and machining defects.

Who's covered. The original buyer of a QUBUS bought from qub.us or an authorized dealer. Proof of purchase (your order number) is required.

What's not covered.

• Cosmetic wear: scratches, scuffs, dents, worn or faded anodizing and finish marks, from everyday use or otherwise.
• Bent, chipped or broken teeth caused by what went in the grinder. The teeth are machined from solid aluminum and don't bend with herbs or spices. Grinding stones, seeds, pits, metal, glass, plastic or other hard objects, or prying or forcing the layers, isn't covered.
• Wear parts: o-rings and other parts that wear with use (spares are sold separately, and one comes in the box).
• Damage from drops, impacts, heat, misuse, modification or improper cleaning (for example, dishwashers, bleach or oven cleaner).
• Squeaks or stiffness that don't stop it from working, normal changes in how tight the magnets feel, and lost or stolen products.

We decide whether a problem is a defect or damage from the photos or video you send, and sometimes by inspecting the part.

What we'll do. We'll repair or replace the defective part, or the whole grinder, at our choice. If we can't, we'll refund what you paid for the defective part.

How to claim. Email [email protected] with your order number and photos or a short video of the problem. If we need the part back, we'll tell you how to send it and send you a prepaid label for valid claims.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary by state. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for incidental or consequential damages under this warranty. Some states don't allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so that limitation may not apply to you.

Privacy policy

What we collect

• When you order: your name, email, shipping address, phone number (optional), what you bought, and any engraving file or text you send. Payments are processed by PayPal; we never see or store your card number.
• When you join the drop list: your email and, if you designed a grinder in the builder, the colors you picked.
• When you write to us or leave a review: your message, the name you want shown, your rating and any photos. Photos are resized and their location data is removed before we store them.
• When you browse: we count visits (which pages, where visitors came from, device type and country) without cookies. Visit counts don't store your IP address and can't be linked to the same person on another day. For security, our servers keep IP addresses for a short time in logs of sign-in attempts and request limits.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't use advertising cookies. Your browser keeps your cart and any discount code you enter, and, if you arrived from an ad or a tagged link, the campaign details for up to 90 days so we know which campaigns lead to sales. Our admin area uses a sign-in cookie. Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site, may set a security cookie, and PayPal sets its own cookies when you pay.

How we use it

To make, ship and support your order; to send order and shipping emails, a reminder if you leave checkout unfinished, and one request (plus one reminder) to review your QUBUS after it arrives; to answer your messages; to keep the store secure; and, if you agreed, to email you about drops and offers.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers who help us run the store, and only what they need:

• PayPal (payments); EasyPost, ShipStation and the shipping carrier (labels, tracking and delivery); our packing partner (your name and shipping address, to pack and ship your order).
• Namecheap (website hosting and email) and Cloudflare (security and delivery of the website).
• Telegram, which we use to receive order alerts, your messages and new reviews so we can respond quickly.
• Anthropic (Claude), an AI assistant that helps us draft replies to support emails. A person reads and approves every reply before it's sent.
• If required by law, or to protect our rights, customers or the public.

We don't sell your personal information and don't share it for others' marketing. If we ever start using Google or other advertising tools, we'll update this policy first.

Emails

Order and shipping emails are part of every order. If you tick "email me about new drops" at checkout, join the drop list, or agreed to marketing emails on our previous qub.us store, we may also email you about new colors, limited editions and offers. Every marketing and reminder email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click. Customers of our previous store were moved here with their order history.

How long we keep it

Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally 7 years). Marketing consent and the drop list: until you unsubscribe. Reviews and photos: until you ask us to remove them. Visit counts: up to 400 days.

Your choices and rights

Email [email protected] to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to stop marketing emails; we'll respond within 30 days. Some records we must keep by law (for example, orders for taxes). California residents may ask which personal information we've shared with third parties for their direct marketing; we don't do that.

Do Not Track. We don't track you across other websites, so we treat every visitor the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track signal. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, any advertising tag we might add in the future won't store data about you.

Security, age and changes

We protect your information with encryption in transit, limited access and two-factor sign-in for our admin. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep only what we need. Our products are for adults 21 and older, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above, and we'll email customers about important changes.

Terms of sale

These terms apply when you buy from qub.us. By placing an order you agree to them and confirm that you're at least 21 years old.

Intended use

QUBUS grinders and parts are sold for legal use with herbs and spices. We may refuse or cancel orders where we believe a product would be used unlawfully.

Orders and prices

Prices are in US dollars, and sales tax is added where required. Your order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we ship it, and the order confirmation email only confirms that we received it. We may cancel an order, with a full refund, if a price or product was listed wrong, if we suspect fraud, or if an item (like a limited edition) sells out before your payment is confirmed.

Custom builds and engraving

Custom-color and engraved items are made for you. Colors on screens and in 3D previews are close to, but not exactly, the real anodized finish, and engraving previews are approximate. If you upload a design, you confirm you have the right to use it, and you agree to cover any claims that it infringes someone else's rights. We may refuse designs that are offensive or infringe someone's rights.

Limited editions

Limited editions are made in fixed quantities and aren't restocked. Edition numbers are assigned in the order payments are completed. We may limit quantities per customer.

Discount codes

Personal launch and drop-list codes are for the person they were sent to. Each code works once, expires at the time stated in the email, applies only to the products stated (complete grinders unless the email says otherwise), can't be combined with other codes and has no cash value. We may cancel codes that were shared publicly, resold or obtained fraudulently.

Reviews and photos

If you send us a review or photos, you allow us to show them, with the name you choose, on qub.us and in our marketing, for free. We don't change what you wrote except to shorten it or remove personal or offensive details. You confirm the photos are yours to share. We read reviews before publishing them, and we may decline to publish or remove reviews that are spam, offensive, about unrelated topics or not from customers.

Our designs

QUBUS, our logo, and the design of the QUBUS grinder, including its patented magnetic twist-lock, belong to Electi Designs LLC. Please don't copy or sell imitations of them.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to a product or this site is limited to the amount you paid for that product, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages. Except for the limited lifetime warranty above, products are sold as is; to the extent the law allows, any implied warranties are limited to the duration of that warranty. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for personal injury caused by our negligence, and some states don't allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable federal law. If we can't resolve a problem by email, either of us may bring a claim in the state or federal courts located in Ventura County, California, or in small claims court where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms; the version in effect when you placed your order applies to that order. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.

Product safety

• Sharp teeth. The grinding teeth are machined sharp. Keep fingers clear when twisting and cleaning.
• Strong magnets. Keep QUBUS away from pacemakers and other implanted medical devices, and away from cards and electronics that can be damaged by magnets. The layers snap together firmly, so keep fingers out of the gap when closing.
• Not a toy. Keep it, its small parts and spare o-rings away from children and pets. If a magnet ever comes loose, stop using the grinder and contact us for a warranty replacement, and get medical help right away if a magnet may have been swallowed.
• Cleaning. Hand wash only (see our cleaning guide). Don't use a dishwasher, bleach or oven cleaner; isopropyl alcohol is fine.
