Fine vs Standard Grind: Which Grinder Teeth?

Standard vs fine grinder teeth compared: grind texture, speed, what each suits, and how to swap the mid piece later without buying a new grinder.

Updated 2026-10-26

The teeth in the mid piece decide how coarse or fine your herbs come out. When you build a QUBUS you choose between standard and fine teeth, and you can swap the mid piece later without buying a whole new grinder.

Standard teeth

Standard teeth are big, sharp diamond-shaped blades. They cut through dense, sticky material in a few turns and leave a medium, fluffy grind. That suits most uses: herbs that should keep some texture, loose-leaf blends and dry herbs for cooking.

Fine teeth

The fine mid piece has more, smaller teeth packed closer together. Material passes more blades on the way through, so it comes out finer and more even. Choose fine if you want a powdery, consistent result, for example for spices, tea blends or anything that should infuse or brew evenly.

Can I switch later?

Yes. The mid piece is sold on its own, in every color, so you can keep both and swap them in seconds. There are no threads, so nothing to unscrew: twist the magnetic lock, lift the mid piece out, drop the other one in.

How to see the difference before you buy

In the builder, tap Standard or Fine under Teeth. The 3D view zooms into the grinding chamber so you can compare the tooth layouts side by side.
